Key Responsibilities: ● Develop and deliver engaging recreational programming for children ages 7 to grade 8 ● Create a welcoming environment for children that encourages participation and engagement ● Demonstrate the use of positive behaviour guidance and support staff and volunteers with behaviour guidance techniques, best practices, and on-the-spot mentorship and feedback ● Maintain professional relationships with staff, families, and community partners ● Maintain professional and respectful relationships with fellow staff, supervisors, parents/guardians, and community members ● Work independently, show strong leadership, and adapt to changing needs ● Ensure program health and safety protocols are followed ● Participate in professional development opportunities ● Follow all guidelines, policies and procedures as set out by BGC Hamilton-Halton Ready to take the shift that shapes futures? The ideal candidate will have: ● A commitment to the Clubs mission, Vision and Core Values, as well as a commitment to innovation, inclusion, excellence and evidence-based practice ● A passion for physical literacy, and being active for life ● Experience facilitating recreation programs for children in both structured and unstructured settings ● Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to take initiative in a rapidly shifting programming environment ● Ability to demonstrate empathy, approachability and an understanding of others ● Diploma/degree or is currently enrolled in a post-secondary program studying recreation or leisure services, sports management, child and youth care, social work, psychology, sociology, or kinesiology with a focus/experience working with children ages 6-13 years ● Availability afternoons and evenings, Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend and daytime shift ● Safe Food Handlers ● High Five Sport and High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development is an asset ● Clear Vulnerable Sector Check, ● Valid First Aid/CPR-Level C (Red Cross preferred) ● Full G License and access to a vehicle an asset Starting Salary: $40,560 Apply today and make your shift count!
